Liveness and proof of human

What the Camera Liveness Check is and is not, and how to link World ID or Human ID to show a badge on your profile.

Hive3 offers three optional badges you can show on your profile: the Camera Liveness Check, World ID and Human ID. They work differently and make different claims, so this page keeps them apart.

SettingsAccount

All three are in the Account section of Settings, below Security.

#Camera Liveness Check

The Camera Liveness Check uses your camera to run a short, on-device check that a live face is in front of the screen. Hive3 describes it as a client-unattested check. It is a local check that runs in your browser.

#What stays on your device

  • Camera frames and landmark progress remain local, in memory and volatile. They are cleared when the attempt ends.
  • Hive3's server stores only account-linked method, policy, challenge, completion and expiry metadata. It receives no image, frame, landmark, descriptor or movement telemetry.

#Run the check

  1. Open the card

In Account settings, find the Camera Liveness Check card. It tells you whether you have a current completion. If you have none, it reads "No current Camera Liveness completion."

  2. Start

Select Start Camera Liveness Check. A window titled Before you start the Camera Liveness Check shows the notice above.

  3. Acknowledge the notice

Tick the box that begins "I understand this is a client-unattested completion", then select Acknowledge and continue. You cannot continue until you tick it.

  4. Allow the camera

Your browser asks to use your camera. Allow it. Hive3 loads its face detector on your device and starts the check.

  5. Follow the prompts

The window, titled Camera Liveness Check, shows a cue for each step. When it asks, select Continue to blink and blink. If blink detection struggles, reduce glare or briefly take off your glasses for that step.

#After the check

The card reads "Client-asserted camera check completed", with the date you completed it and the date it expires, and a Current badge. While the check is current, a Camera Liveness Check badge can appear on your profile.

A completion lasts 90 days. In the last 14 days the badge changes to Expiring and the button becomes Renew Camera Liveness Check. If it expires, the card says "Expired — complete a new check."

If the check does not finish, the card says Camera Liveness Check did not complete and offers Retry Camera Liveness Check. If the card says the check is temporarily unavailable, try again later.

#World ID

World ID is a separate service, run by World, that you link to your Hive3 account. A linked World ID shows a badge such as World ID · Orb on your profile. Hive3 receives a zero-knowledge proof, not your identity.

LevelWhat it is
OrbWorld's Orb verification. World describes it as showing that you are a unique human.
Selfie CheckA lighter liveness check from World. It does not guarantee one person per account.
  1. Open the World ID row

Under Proof of human, find World ID.

  2. Choose a level

Select Verify with Orb, or Use Selfie Check for the lighter check.

  3. Approve in World App

Follow the World ID window and approve the request in World App. Make sure World App is up to date, because Hive3 accepts World ID 4.0 credentials only.

A message confirms World ID linked to your Hive3 account. If you linked with Selfie Check and later verify at an Orb, select Upgrade to Orb. Select Unlink to remove it. If the row says World ID linking is not available yet, it is not turned on for your account yet.

#Human ID

Human ID, from human.tech, is a verification you complete once with a face check or a government ID. Hive3 looks for it on your linked wallet. A linked Human ID shows a badge such as Human ID · Biometrics.

  1. Verify with Human ID (if you have not)

Use Verify with biometrics or Verify with government ID in the row. These open Human ID's own site, where you verify with your wallet.

  2. Check from Hive3

Back in Settings, select Already verified?. If you have no wallet linked yet, Hive3 asks you to connect the wallet you verified with. Otherwise it looks on the wallets you have already linked.

  3. Link it

When Hive3 finds a verification, it links it and shows how long each method is valid. If it finds nothing, the row offers Connect that wallet in case you verified with a different wallet.

Select Check again to refresh a linked verification, or Unlink to remove it. If you verified before you joined, Hive3 may find and link it automatically the first time you open the row.

#Good to know

  • A World ID or a Human ID wallet can back only one Hive3 account at a time. Unlinking frees it.
  • Hive3 stores which provider you linked, when, and the provider's anonymous identifier so it cannot be linked to a second account. Unlinking removes it.
  • The three badges are independent. A Camera Liveness Check badge does not mean you have a World ID or Human ID, and the other way round.
  • Each of these is optional. Hive3 describes World ID and Human ID as optional links that show a badge on your profile.
