Affiliates are the communities and organizations you want to be seen alongside: partners, sponsors, chapters or sub-communities. They appear together on an Affiliates tab on your community page, so visitors can find them from you.
Who can do this: the owner, admins and moderators of a community on Honey Bee or higher.
#What affiliates are, and are not
An affiliate is a connection that is displayed. It is a way to say "we work with them".
- It does show the affiliate on your page, in the groups you choose.
- It does not pay anyone. There are no commissions, revenue shares or payouts.
- It does not share members, roles, content or permissions between the two communities.
- It is not the referral program. To invite people and track signups, see Referrals.
#Open the Affiliates page
My HiveMy DashboardAffiliatesThe page is titled Affiliates. When you have none yet, it says No affiliates yet and invites you to add an affiliate or sub-account.
#Add an affiliate
You can connect to another community on Hive3, or list an organization that is not on Hive3.
#Connect to a community on Hive3
Open the form
Select Add affiliate.
Find the community
Type in Search Hive and choose the account from the results.
Add a message (optional)
Write some context for the other team under Message (optional).
Pick groups (optional)
Under Add to groups (optional), choose the groups the affiliate should appear in.
Send
Select Send request. The other community has to accept before the connection appears on your page.
Your request shows under Sent requests, where you can select Cancel until it is answered. If the other community declines, you have to wait 24 hours before you can send another request to it.
#List an organization that is not on Hive3
Select Not on Hive? Add manually, then fill in the Name, Website URL and About, and optionally upload a Logo image and a Banner image. Select Add affiliate. An outside organization is added straight away because there is nobody on Hive3 to approve it. You can change its details later with Edit from its menu.
#Answer a request
When another community asks to connect with you, the request appears under Pending requests. Select Accept or Decline. Accepted connections show under Affiliated with.
#Organize affiliates into groups
Groups keep a long list tidy, for example Partners, Sponsors or Chapters. On your community page, each group becomes a tab.
Create a group
Select New group, type a Group name (up to 60 characters) and select Create group. You can have up to 50 groups.
Put affiliates in it
Open the group's tab and select Choose affiliates, or open an affiliate's menu and choose Edit groups.
Rename or delete
Use the group options menu for Rename group or Delete group. Deleting a group removes only the group and its tab. Its affiliates stay on your page under All.
#Remove an affiliate
Open an affiliate's menu and select Delete. This removes the connection, including from any groups, and cannot be undone. Either community in a connection can remove it.
