The AI assistant is a chat on your community page that answers questions for your members and visitors. You give it a name, a description and a set of documents, such as your handbook, FAQ or event guide, and it uses those documents as context when it replies.
Who can do this: the owner, admins and moderators of a community on Honey Bee or higher.

My HiveMy DashboardAIOpen the AI settings
On your dashboard, select AI. The page is titled AI Assistant and describes itself as "Configure assistant identity, visibility, and training documents."
Describe the assistant
Under AI Agent Information, upload an Avatar image, then set a Name (up to 80 characters, starting as Community AI Assistant) and a Description (up to 2,000 characters) that explains what the assistant is for.
Choose who can use it
Under Visibility, pick Public, Protected or Private. See the table below.
Add training documents
Under Training Documents, select Choose File and pick a document. You can do this before you launch: uploading your first document launches the assistant for you.
Launch
Select Launch Assistant. A confirmation says Assistant launched.
#Choose who can use it
| Visibility | Who can chat with the assistant |
|---|---|
| Public | All signed-in people. |
| Protected | Only members of your community. |
| Private | Only your team: the owner, admins and moderators. |
The chat appears on your community's page for the people your setting allows. Private is useful while you test the assistant before opening it up.
#Training documents
Documents are what make the assistant specific to your community. It reads them and uses what it finds to answer questions.
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| File types | PDF, Word (.docx) and plain text (.txt) |
| File size | Up to 5 MB per file. PDFs are read up to 2 MB and 100 pages. |
| Documents you can keep | Up to 50 |
| Uploads | Up to 30 per day |
| Documents the assistant uses | Your 10 most recent. It reads up to about 10,000 characters of each, and about 20,000 characters in total. |
Each uploaded document appears in a list with its size and the date you added it. Select Delete beside a document to remove it from the assistant.
#Update the assistant later
Return to AI on your dashboard at any time. The main button now reads Update Assistant. After you update, a confirmation says Assistant updated and you return to your dashboard. Documents are added or removed as soon as you upload or delete them, so you do not need Update Assistant for those. A new document may take a short while to be processed before the assistant can use it.
#What to expect
- Besides your documents, the assistant knows your account's name, description and location, and a short list of your published events, courses, quests, content and posts. Visitors only get answers about public items. Members also get items for members, and owners and admins get everything.
- Review its replies before you rely on it for anything important, such as prices or policies, and keep the source documents up to date.
- If the assistant should not be available for a while, set Visibility to Private and select Update Assistant.
