You do not have to run a community alone. Roles let you hand out parts of the work: an admin can manage almost everything, and a moderator can look after people and day-to-day content without touching money or roles.
Who can do this: the owner and admins can assign roles. Adding admins or moderators comes with Honey Bee and above.
#The three roles
Everyone who joins starts as a regular member. On top of that, an account has three levels of staff.
- Owner. The account itself. The owner has every permission, can never be removed, cannot leave, and cannot have the role changed.
- Admin. Everything the owner can do for the community, including managing roles and payments, except changing or removing the owner.
- Moderator. Runs the community day to day: members, content, broadcasts and events. A moderator cannot manage roles or payments.

#Work on a community you help manage
If someone gave you a role, you do not need to be the owner to reach the dashboard.
My HiveMy DashboardAccounts you manageAccounts you manage lists every account where you are an admin or a moderator. Open one to reach its dashboard. What you see depends on your role: moderators do not see Permissions or Monetize.
#Good habits
- Start people as moderators and promote them to admin only when they need to manage roles or payments.
- Admins can assign and remove other admins, so give the role only to people you fully trust.
- Review the Permissions page after a team change.
