Build your account page

Design the public page for your account or community with the Account Builder, including its overview sections and welcome page.

Your account page is what people see when they find you on Hive3. The Account Builder lets you edit the page directly: change the banner and name, choose which sections appear, hand-pick what each section shows, and decide who can join.

Who can do this: the owner, admins and moderators of the account. Every plan can build a page. The Private and subscription access options need a Honey Bee or higher plan.

#Open the Account Builder

My HiveMy DashboardAccount Builder

Open the dashboard of the account you want to edit, then select the Account Builder card. If you manage a community, open its dashboard first.

The builder replaces the usual sidebar with a controls panel headed Community Builder. Your page sits beside it as a live preview. The panel has three areas under Controls menu:

AreaWhat it does
Community settingsWho can join. See Members and applications.
Manage widgetThe widget column on the right of your page.
Manage overviewThe sections on your page.
The Account Builder.

Nothing you change is public until you save. The panel shows You have unsaved Community Builder changes. while edits are waiting. Select Save and exit to publish them, or Cancel to discard them. If you try to leave with unsaved changes, Hive3 asks whether to keep editing, discard or save.

#Edit your banner, name and details

The top of the preview is editable. Hover over a part of it and select it to change it.

  1. Change the banner and community image

Select the banner to upload a wide cover image, or the community image to upload your logo. Each can be removed again.

  2. Change the name and short description

Select the name to edit it. Your Community name can be up to 80 characters and the Short description up to 100.

  3. Choose a handle

Select Edit handle. A handle is 3 to 30 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens, starting with a letter or number. Hive3 checks that it is available before you can save.

  4. Add a location, badges and links

Add a Location (up to 80 characters), up to 5 badges of up to 24 characters each, and your social links.

Editing the name and short description in place.

#Choose the sections on your page

Open Manage overview. Sections that are switched on appear first under Active, with a count. Switched-off sections are grouped below by category, each with how many are available.

CategorySections
FeaturedSpotlight, one highlighted item or a welcome message
StoryAbout, Guidelines
ShowcaseSubscriptions, Events, Courses, Quests, Jobs
CredentialsCredentials, the credentials your community has issued
  1. Switch a section on or off

Use the toggle on its row.

  2. Reorder the active sections

Drag a row, or use its up and down arrows.

  3. Edit a section

Select Edit on its row. What opens depends on the section, as described below.

Manage overview.

#Spotlight

Spotlight is the first thing visitors see. In Edit spotlight, pick what to feature: Off, Welcome (your own message), Subscription, Event, Course, Quest or Job. For an item, choose which one. You can also set a Headline, a Description, a banner image (Upload banner) and a Button label. For a welcome message, these fields are the message itself.

#About and Guidelines

About opens a rich text editor for your long introduction, up to 3,000 words. Guidelines lets you add numbered rules, each with a title and a description, using Add guideline. About only appears on your page once it has content.

#Events, courses, quests, jobs, subscriptions and credentials

These sections open a window with the same options:

  • Section title renames the heading.
  • Display mode is either All current items, which always shows everything you have published, or Hand-picked, where you search, choose and order exactly which items appear under Selected order.
  • A layout choice sets how many appear, from 1 row up to All.
Hand-picking the events on your page.

#Set who can join

Open Community settings to choose Open, Private, Open + Subscription or Private + Subscription. The full explanation is in Members and applications.

#The right-hand widget column

Your page can show a separate column of widgets beside the main sections. In Manage widget, turn Right widget column on or off. When it is on, select Customize sidebar to switch widgets on or off and drag the enabled ones into order. Reset to default restores the starting layout.

#Your welcome page

There is no separate welcome page to maintain. People who are not signed in, and signed-in people who have not joined yet, see your page's sections under a welcome banner with the join button that matches your access setting (for example Join Account, Apply to Join or Sign In to Subscribe for visitors who are signed out). Whatever you switch on in the Account Builder is what they see, so your Spotlight works as your welcome message.

If a page still has settings from an older welcome page, the builder imports them as a starting point and shows a note. Save once to move them across.

#Save your changes

Select Save and exit in the controls panel. Hive3 confirms with Community updated and returns you to your page. On a phone, open the menu, then use Visualize community to look at the preview and Cancel to leave without saving.
