Hive3 events can happen inside a 3D world where people walk around, meet and talk. You book the time, publish the event as usual, and then enter the world as its host. This guide covers the two kinds of world, how booking and metaverse time work, how to get in, and how to manage people you have banned.
Who can do this: Honey Bee and above. Worker Bee accounts cannot book a world. Owners, admins and moderators of an account can book and host. Buying metaverse time and choosing a Royal Hive world's design are limited to owners and admins.
#Shared worlds and your own world
| Honey Bee | Swarm | Royal Hive | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where your events run | Any shared world, chosen for each event | Your default shared world | Your own world |
| Most people per event | 500 | 500 | 100 |
| Event time | Pay as you go | 1 hour a month included, then pay as you go | Unlimited |
- A shared world is a Hive3 venue that many accounts book in turn, such as the Hive3 Dome or the Night Lounge. It holds up to 500 people. A shared world hosts one event at a time, so each booking holds the world for its time slot.
- A Royal Hive world is reserved for your account. Its events, link and settings stay the same. It holds up to 100 people. Its time is unlimited, but the 100-person limit still applies.
#Open your Worlds page
My HiveMy DashboardWorldsSelect the Worlds card on your dashboard. It opens a page titled Worlds with these sections:
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Current world | Your default or own world, with booking and entry buttons. |
| All worlds | Every shared world, with the choices your plan allows. |
| World bans | People banned from your world. It only appears once there is a ban. |
| Metaverse time | Your balance, and Buy time for owners and admins. |
| Unlock more | What the next plan adds. |
#Choose your world
#Honey Bee
You choose a world each time you create an event. Book an hour on the page opens the event form with Metaverse Event already selected.
#Swarm
Your events run in your default shared world, marked Default. To change it, select Set as default on another world under All worlds. If you have upcoming events in other worlds, Hive3 asks whether to make the new world your default, and offers Keep them where they are or Move them to the new world. Events that clash with an existing booking in the new world stay where they are, and Hive3 tells you how many.
#Royal Hive
Your world starts closed and you pick its design.
Pick a design
Under All worlds, select Make this my world on the design you want. Later, select Use for my world on another design to switch. The world you are using shows Your world's design. You cannot switch while the world is hosting an event, and Hive3 asks you to wait until it ends.
Decide who can enter
In Current world, under World admission, choose Closed, Community members only or Anyone with a Hive3 account. A new world is closed.
Share the link
Select Copy link to copy your world's address.
World admission applies whenever no event is running. While one of your events is on, the event's own rules decide who can enter: people need an RSVP or approval, and a subscription or ticket if the event asks for one.
#Book an event in a world
Start the event form
Select Book an hour (Honey Bee), the button named after your world, such as Book Hive3 Dome (Swarm), or Book an event in your world (Royal Hive) on the Worlds page. Or start from New Event on your dashboard and choose Metaverse Event. See Create an event.
Set the capacity and the world
In Event Type, enter Maximum participants and choose the world. The maximum is 500 in a shared world and 100 in a Royal Hive world.
Choose the time
In Scheduling, drag across the time you need. Slots other events already hold in that world show as Booked.
Publish
Create the event. Attendees RSVP the usual way.
If a Royal Hive account has not chosen a design yet, the event form shows Set up your own world with a Choose your world button. It opens your Worlds page in a new tab, so you keep your place in the form.
#Keep track of metaverse time
Events in a shared world use metaverse time, counted in the minutes you book. Royal Hive worlds do not use it.
- Swarm includes 1 hour in each month. Included time does not roll over. Time is counted against the month the event starts in.
- Honey Bee has no included time. You buy 1-hour packs with Buy time. Each pack lasts 30 days from purchase.
- When you book, Hive3 uses included time first and then your packs, starting with the pack that expires soonest.
The Metaverse time card on the dashboard and on the Worlds page shows scheduled and leftover minutes. When you schedule an event, a line above the calendar shows how much time you have left this month. If the event is too long, it says how many minutes you are over, and owners and admins can select Top up. The Top up metaverse time window shows your balance, offers a recommended purchase sized to the shortfall, and sells the 1 Hour pack. Prices are on Plans and pricing.
If you delete an event before it starts, the purchased time it used is returned to your packs. Once the event has started, its time is used.
#Enter as the host
Owners, admins and moderators of the account that owns the event can enter its world at any time until the event ends. Guests can only enter from 15 minutes before the start.
Event pageEnter as hostOpen the event and select Enter as host. You can also select it on the Manage Enrollment page. From the Worlds page, Enter world (Royal Hive) or the button named after your world, such as Enter Hive3 Dome (Swarm), opens the world itself, and Enter on any card under All worlds does the same. The Worlds page opens the world in a new tab.
If it does not open straight away:
- A Royal Hive world can need a moment to start. If you see Your world is starting up. Try again in a moment., wait a few seconds and try again.
- Hive3 shows Private worlds are at capacity right now. Try again in a few minutes. when all private worlds are busy.
- During a booked event a shared world is held for that event. Anyone else who tries to enter sees that it is reserved for the event.
#What guests need to enter
Guests open the event page and select Enter world. They need to:
- have an accepted RSVP (or approval, if you chose Apply for entry);
- meet the event's access rules, such as membership, a subscription or a ticket;
- arrive no more than 15 minutes before the start, and before the end; and
- not be banned from the world.
People who are not yet members of your community are asked to join or apply first.
#Manage world bans
Hosts can ban someone from inside the world. A banned person cannot enter that world again and sees You've been banned from this world. Bans are separate for each world. Owners, admins and moderators of the account cannot be banned from its own world.
Bans from your own world appear under World bans on the Worlds page, with each person's name and handle, who banned them and when. Select Unban next to a name and confirm to let them back in. Bans in a shared world are handled by the Hive3 team.
#Tips
- Book the time before you promote the event. A shared world holds one event at a time, so popular slots go first.
- Keep your event capacity at or below the number of people you expect. It cannot go above 500, or 100 in a Royal Hive world.
- For a Royal Hive world, leave admission on Closed between events and let the event's own rules decide who joins while it runs.
- Enter a few minutes early to check the space and greet people as they arrive.
