Watch live streams

Watch a community's live stream, chat with other viewers, and catch up with replays.

Communities and creators can broadcast live on Hive3. Each has a channel with a live player, a chat, and a list of past broadcasts. You watch inside Hive3, and the stream appears the moment the creator goes live.

Live streams are open to everyone, signed in or not. Chatting, liking and watching replays need you to sign in.

#Find a live stream

  • The Live now bar. When anyone is live, a red bar appears across the top of Hive3 with their name and stream title, for example "(Name) is live: (title)". If several streams are live it adds "+2 more live". Select it to watch. The X dismisses it.
  • An account's Streams tab. Open a community's page and select Streams. The tab appears once the account has a live stream or recordings.
  • A shared link. Channel links open the channel directly. Use Share on a channel to copy its link.

If the link does not match any channel, the page says This channel doesn't exist.

#Watch and react

Under the player you see the channel's name with a status badge: LIVE, Signal lost or Offline. While the stream is live, the page shows how many people are watching and how long it has been live. When it is over, it shows the peak number of viewers instead.

#Chat

On a computer, the chat opens beside the player. On a phone, choose Chat in the bottom bar to slide it up beneath the video.

  1. Sign in

Where the message box would be, select Sign in to chat.

  2. Write a message

Type in Send a message. Messages can be 1 to 500 characters. Select Add emoji for the emoji picker, and Send message or press Enter to post.

  3. Reply or react (optional)

Open Message actions on a message and choose Reply or React. Reactions show a count next to each emoji; select one to add or remove yours.

Chat is open only while the stream is live. Between broadcasts it reads Chat is closed until the next broadcast. If a moderator bans you from a channel's chat, Hive3 tells you You can no longer post in this chat.
