Hive3 brings communities, events, courses, quests, jobs and live streams together under one sign-in. You can use it to take part in what other people run, to run your own community, or both.
This page explains the ideas you will meet in the rest of the documentation. If you would rather start clicking, go straight to Create your account.
#What you can do
Everyone who signs in can:
- Join communities and follow accounts. See Discover and join communities.
- Attend events, take courses and complete quests. See Attend events, Take courses and Complete quests.
- Read and watch content, and find and apply for jobs.
- Post to The Buzz, the home feed, and send messages.
- Create events, courses, content, jobs, quests, add-ons and live streams of your own. See Your dashboard.
A paid plan adds the tools for running a community: private and paid access, admins and moderators, email broadcasts, an AI assistant and more. Plans and pricing lists every difference.
#Accounts and communities
Everything in Hive3 belongs to an account. When you sign in you get an account with your display name, handle and profile page.
A community is an account that is on a paid plan. Hive3 lists paid accounts on the Communities page and Worker Bee accounts on the Accounts page, so an account moves from one list to the other when its plan changes. There is no separate community product to buy: you upgrade the account you already have.
You can link more than one sign-in to your browser and move between them. See Switch between accounts.
#Members and roles
People take part in a community by becoming members. How someone joins depends on how the community is set up:
| Button on the community page | What it means |
|---|---|
| Join Community | Anyone can join straight away. |
| Apply to Join | The community reviews applications before accepting you. |
| Subscribe | Access needs a paid subscription to that community. |
Joined communities appear in My Hive, on the Communities tab.
Running a community uses three roles above regular member: Owner, Admin and Moderator. Anyone with one of these roles can open the community's dashboard. Admins can give other members the Admin or Moderator role, which needs the community to be on a paid plan. See Roles and permissions.
#Plans
Hive3 has four plans: Worker Bee (free), Honey Bee, Swarm and Royal Hive. The plan belongs to the account, not to the person. Worker Bee already lets you create events, courses, content, jobs, quests, add-ons and live streams. Paid plans add privacy, selling, community management tools and monthly allowances. Compare them on Plans and pricing.
#The dashboard
Your dashboard is where you publish and manage. It has a tab for each kind of thing you create (Events, Courses, Content, Jobs, Quests), plus action cards for settings, members, broadcasts and more.
Open yours from My Hive by selecting My Dashboard. See Your dashboard.
#Acting as an account you manage
If you are an Owner, Admin or Moderator of another account, you can open that account's dashboard and publish as it. Anything you create there belongs to that account, and paid features follow that account's plan, not yours.
Select Accounts you manage on your dashboard to see them, then open the account's page and select the gear button labelled Dashboard in its header.
